Jules Hilliard needs help finishing the side porch for a laundry room.
The utilities must be moved out of the basement, for many reasons.
The Washer and Dryer were submerged, along with the hot water tank, as the side creek burst into the basement on 4-11-24 at 3am; later, it was discovered that the force of the water flow had taken out a wall and the basement doors completely. This is a separate need to be addressed if there is enough funds.
Adding a few new wires and drains and getting them some NEW/USED utilities will cost a bit, but it is possible with a little here and a little there in the Laundry Room, where Jules started enclosing when he had the time, ability, and money.
🫧 I need to mention Brandi gave Denver a baby shower this weekend after the flood, and with her moving back in with the baby, clean clothes and hot water are TWO imperative THINGS needed as soon as possible. 🫧

Of course, on the evening of April 11, 2024, rain began to hit the Village of Renfrew, causing The Connoquenessing Creek to overflow its banks, leading to flooding on Main Street by the Post Office, sadly, once again at the witching hour, to be frankly honest, the last four ones have been biblical, to say the least!
In September 2004, Renfrew faced enormous flooding due to heavy rainfall caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ivan, Francis, Jeanne, and Charlie’s wrath to spread over the mountains and back to our current home.
As many of you know, Adam and I ran to higher ground, or so we thought, in 2005 with a five-year-old, a newborn, and a dream.
Still, we know YAHWEH places us exactly where we are needed in this rollercoaster adventure we call LIFE.
ELOHIM gives us the family we need for the seasons that ring TRUE living colors of this TIMELINE SUPRISE of rising RAINBOW WARRIORS.
The Connoquenessing Creek overflowed in 2005 and four times since then, causing significant damage to the village and stuff in the basements, but survivors survived, and warriors rose every time, as we will again, GOD willing, and the creek doesn’t rise ~ too much!
We bought Rosemary Casey’s little grey house, figuring, as the locals said, it was THE 100-year flood. 🙊 LOL 🙊 four more BIG ONES later, it truly is my little RED schoolhouse now; with so many LESSONS learned, we still need to get the electric panel moved up to the first floor, but time and money, you know when you have one, you just seem to not have the other! 🙊 one day 🙊!!!!!
Heritage and Preservation have their challenges, but Renfrew retains its SHINE over the years, even with the flood mud.
I should know because I live across the street from the original Methodist church, which still stands as a testament to our past, serving as a home, workshop, and garage for some of the local’s finest! It is one well-preserved historic site, standing guard over our little town due to WORKERS MIGHT!
We locals truly do cherish the simplicity of the slow life of the BIRDS, BEES, and all the pretty TREES; really enjoying the fruits of our labors and ELOHIM’S cool evenings listening to children play at the park in this holler is a blessing despite the pain we all are feeling right now.
The Historical Origins of Renfrew seemed to emerge in 1882 on farmland owned by David Renfrew, a miller and schoolteacher of Scottish lineage.
There are local photos in the Post Office, but Sara Parker, in the Yellow House, had a large photo book of the past I’d love to share one day!
Initially, Renfrew Village was a “Company Town” with little more than a general store, a Methodist church, and wooden boardwalks over the mud.
However, over the years, it saw several families from birth to STILL LIVING. Yes, Bob Parker, Sarah’s husband in the Yellow House, across the street from me, was born in the house between Jules and our home.
Renfrew thrived as a BOOMING Oil Town, boasting a general store, a school, a post office, even a gas station, and, of course, the local church, which has a long story as the folks moved up to Meridian Station, the Church now known as Bright Hope Community Church sits on its frame, and that is a story that truly NEEDS UPDATED on another day, but we and Jules were once members.
NFIP focuses on flood insurance coverage, risk reduction, and fair claims processing. It may not empower local authorities to profit from usurping property rights. After all, we know power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely those who wield power weirdly.
I truly do know it is hard to get anything useful on our own land without paying and paying for CHECKS and BALANCES of the nepotism kind.
Still, homeowners’ rights remain UN-protected under any program where GREEDY MAN stands with MONEY in HAND backed by badges, guns, and prison cells, even when the bucket has been lost down the RIVER.
The Hilliards need YOUR TIME as certain skill sets are challenged!
